Edinnu — The Garden of God

Much of the book is concerned with certain features of Edinnu — the Garden of God or Paradise of Pleasure: the heavenly region directly connected to the senses.

Entrance to this realm has traditionally been represented as subject to particular conditions. The Sumerians placed their scorpion guardians at the door, angels whose gaze was death, while the Jewish Paradise possessed the flaming sword that would smite the visitor.

Within the work these images point toward ecstatic states of trance in which the elements cease to be seen in their limited form and instead become infinite as four aspects of the Divine.

The magician must therefore first build his own magical garden in the image of Edinnu and become firm in magical equilibrium before travelling further through the cosmos.

Expanding the Elemental Work of Franz Bardon

A magician following the Bardon tradition will find familiar territory here. The work explores magical equilibrium, the elements, mental wandering and evocation while considerably expanding the field of elemental study.

More than forty beings are included beyond those mentioned by Bardon in The Practice of Magical Evocation, alongside over forty seals drawn from André Consciência’s personal library and detailed accounts of his experiences with these beings.

Clairvoyance is applied deeply to the investigation of the different elemental sprites. Most unusually, sprites of the elements named by Franz Bardon are interviewed in the triangle of art directly for the reader.

The keys to magic, mental wandering, evocation and the four elements are explored through different times and cultures in the light of universal knowledge.
